The rubettes made No. 1 in 1974 with their first single " Sugar Baby Love", sang by the legendary Paul da Vinci and after five weeks at the No 1 spot in UK they repeated the success throughout the world.
" Sugar Baby love" sold 8 million copies after which the group , with thier distinctive high vocals and uniquely flamboyant presentation, went on to have a future 15 international hits establishing themselves as one of the majo band of the 70´s Glam Rock era.
Throughout the 70´s their huge popularity determined that they were constandly indemand for TV and concerts appearances worlwide and after completing their 8th album for polydor records in 1979, they recorded for CBS for a future years retiring in 1981.
The various members of THE RUBETTES then pursued a natural progression of solo projects and productions. Paul da Vinci released several solo million selling hits " YOUR BABY AIN`T YOUR BABY ANYMORE" " If you get hurt" etc.
The group re started in 1984 and in 2002 there are two line ups of the group. Our group exists of the original founder member Bill Hurd -Keybord, Vocals, Alex Bines on drums, who has been with them since their reformation and Paul da Vinci - lead vocal and original singer of " Sugar baby love", Glenn Sissions, bass/ vocal and Rufus Ruffell - lead guitar /vocals.
Having sold in excess of 30 million records to date they are regulary sought after to appear on TV at clubs, galas and festivals worldwide to reproduce their fabulous nostalgic sound for young and old alike, and the experience derived from many years on the road plus a wealth of hits rarely if ever disappoints.
